Our team … Super Lekker!

You want to get to know us? Read more about why we want to travel to Cape town…

Benjamin Verboom

I am one of the team Super Lekker originals. I am 26 years old and have studied naval architecture in Delft. I work as a captain...

… on inland ships and yachts all over the world. I live on a classic charter vessel which is called “Stormvogel“. I love to travel and luckily with my job I can do this a lot but since I am curious what else there is to see in the world, I started out with two friends a couple years back and founded team Super Lekker. Our team began as an fun charity Rally team and after the first rally through the south of Europe, we were hooked on driving. So we took part in a second rally. During this trip through Scandinavia and Russia the idea came to travel to Cape Town. When I told this to other friends, they were very supportive. Some were even eager to join this journey or help out along the way. Now I am very proud that we are teaming up and actually making this happen.

Ilja Dekker

Already 28 years and living in Leiden. 10 years ago I started my first “big” journey, I spend 3 months in Kenya as a volunteer. There I got addicted to the travel virus...

Now, I work as a microbiologist, so I know its not an easy virus to get rid of. After many other travels to Asia and Oceania I am going on this amazing adventure.

Some people find me naïve to “just” go like this. But with such a unique journey, this company I’m going with and the countries we are going to, I’m very aware of the challenge. And I like a challenge! I hope to share exiting, beautiful and touching stories along the way and also after. So I can inspire others to travel and discover.

Ivan Stavorinus

I live in Zwolle and am 26 years old. I’m born and raised on an inland shipping vessel. For the last 11 years i worked on these vessels too, currently as captain...

…In recent years i developed a passion for travelling. I spend a lot of time in countries as Mexico, Cuba and Guatemala. This was really satisfying, thats why i decided to join this incredible journey. Benjamin asked me to go on this trip and i don’t want to let this chance pass by. It suits me to support a charity as SOS Kinderdorpen this way. They help the people in countries which we will see on our journey, a nice opportunity for us to contribute.

Martin Voncken

After my first step outside the European continent a whole new world has opened for me. Since that moment I realized how singular my view on the world actually was...

… Now I meet every new challenge and experience with enthusiasm and curiosity. My target and mission for our journey is to let everyone experience the true Africa. Hopefully opening their eyes too!

Rudy van den Berg

Telling people stories is my passion. Especially when I can tell them from own experience. That’s how I taught children for the past 5 years all about different cultures, ideas and views on the world...

… I work as a primary school teacher, but before that I studied Chinese language and culture for 3 years. Including 6 months in Chongqing, China. Challenging yourself with new adventures has always driven me to get the best out of myself and others around me. That’s why I didn’t hesitated when Benjamin asked me to join. I hope to share my curiosity and new views of the world during and after our journey to Cape Town. At the same time helping our charity to keep up their good work!

Sjors Fens

I'm one of the new additions to the group, I'm 28 years old and work as a graphic designer for the past 7 years...
… As a avid snowboarder most of my holidays were spent in the snow and only lasted 1 or 2 weeks, for me this will be the very first time that I’m going to travel for a longer period of time and on a different continent aswell! I look forward to the challenge and to what will certainly be a adventure that I will never forget.

Eszter Szabo

The odd one out of our team is Eszter because she doesn’t speak Dutch. She is a Hungarian landscape architect working as a sailing and snowsport instructor. After traveling and living in different countries such as Austria, Denmark or Japan...

…becoming a yogini in India, she was searching for even more adventures to celebrate her 30th birthday. That’s when she came across our team. . .
Her best travel buddy is also joining @littleme_eszter

Tim

I’m Tim and live in Brussels, Belgium. In Summer you can find me on a boat sailing in the Netherlands. In winter I spent some weeks in the Alps as a ski-teacher. This adventure now is not on the water or in the mountains but on the road...

… My crazy Dutch sailing-friends came up with this idea and I decided to join-in! I’m taking a break from my job in HealtCare IT for a couple of months (thank you boss!) so we can do this! I’m the only one fluent in French so I guess that’s why I’m in. L’Afrique, c’est Chic!

Lara

My name is Lara and I work as a personal development trainer/coach, with a background in Psychology. In 2013 I´v been studying and travelling in the Southern African countries, where my love for Africa started...

…The African culture, with their passion for music and dance, connection to nature and caring communities, makes my heart tick.
Travelling for me means living life to the fullest, learning in many aspects and seeing the world from a different perspective. I´m looking forward to leave my comfort zone (again), to further discover the African continent, connect with local people and contribute to SOS Kinderdorpen wherever I can. Let the adventure begin!
